Moved beyond words

Saturday was a wonderful day, for more reasons than I can count.

The Panama Helpline and The Rotary Club of Playa Coronado shared a table at the Community Police Appreciation Day event at Gorgona.

It was sunny, (Hot) and very well attended. Expats and locals mingled together, enjoying music, table displays, costumed folkloric dancers, cheerleaders from Coronado International School, and a police against the community soccer game (note to self-never score against a guy that wears a gun to work every day) LOL...

However the highlight came when a woman came up to our table and asked about the wheelchairs in the picture on our brand new roll-up banner.

She explained that her grandson Jatdiel, who is less than 2 years old, needed a wheelchair as they could not afford one. Rotary members got organized, translated, and told her to go get the child.

We called the storage area and got the wheelchair. In front of hundreds of people, the members of the Rotary Club of Playa Coronado presented the very young mother and infant with the wheelchair.

Tears streamed down her face, the grandmothers' face, and in fact, there was not a dry eye in the house.

We were there to tell the community what Rotary does.

Instead of telling them, we showed them in the most moving way possible.

Proud to be a Rotarian.
